Vitreo Macular Traction (VMT)
Detachment of the vitreous ( please see section on 'Posterior Vitreous Detachment') in its early stages may exert a pulling force on the centre of the fovea.
This can lead to variable visual symptoms ranging from distorted vision to loss of central clarity or difficulty in focusing when reading.
VMT should be reported to a retinal surgeon without delay and monitored closely as it can be progressive and require intervention.
