LASIK
Lasik eye surgery is now established as a very effective treatment for the correction of refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. The basic principle of surgery is to reshape the cornea by removing a thin layer form its surface. This is accomplished by lifting a flap first with the help a highly precise tool called femtosecond laser. After reshaping the cornea with Eximer laser, the flap is replaced and allowed to heal naturally. Post operative recovery is usually rapid with minimal pain.
Lasik is suitable for the relatively young age group who are yet not presbyopic (who do not need reading prescription). It is geberally unsuitable for extreme levels of refractive errors who may be served bnetter with other techniques such as Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) or Phakic Intra-Ocular Lens (PIOL).
